Project: Chicago Community Security Infrastructure Improvements - Chicago, Illinois

Profile:

The Chicago Community Security Infrastructure Improvement Program is designed to enhance the security and safety of Chicago neighborhoods and commercial districts. The extensive menu of alternative public-way-improvements permits a selection of physical improvements appropriate to various neighborhood needs and characteristics. These improvements affect neighborhood access, traffic and pedestrian circulation and environmental quality.

Sonoc Architects prepared a variety of physical public-way-improvements that address and modify the Chicago street grid as it relates to adjoining commercial uses at edges of residential neighborhoods. These improvements include, landscaping, cul-de-sac alternatives, street furniture, traffic circles, diagonal medians, gated entries, lighting enhancements, roadway pavement, traffic calming devices, parking alternatives and neighborhood gateways.
