Sonoc Architects & Associates provides Architecture, Master Planning, Urban Design and Construction Administration Services. Our national project experience encompasses a broad spectrum of architectural and planning activities, including residential, commercial, retail, institutional, industrial, preservation and public infrastructure assignments. Each project is analyzed and designed within its specific local context to ensure that each solution is supported and strengthened by its context, as well as, each solution supporting and strengthening its surrounding context.

Our consistent approach to architecture, planning and design, begins with a clear understanding of our client's directives. Sonoc Architects has founded a benchmark by listening to and understanding our client's needs and goals. We are committed to achieving the highest standards of design with the successful completion of each project, fully satisfying our client's expectations. Much of our work is generated by clients who have worked with Sonoc on prior projects.

Sonoc Architects and Associates practice architecture, planning and design following the principles of function, beauty, economy and consequence. As the functional requirements of a project determine its usefulness and the beauty of a project is perceived as a notion of appropriateness, economy is generated through the acceptance of function and beauty within a problem and its solution. Scott Sonoc AIA

Scott Sonoc AIA, architect, designer and planner, is a founding and managing principal of Sonoc Architects and Associates Inc.. His work encompasses a broad range of projects within residential, commercial, institutional, planning, industrial and urban design settings.

With more than 25 years of professional experience, spanning architecture, urban planning and design, Sonoc has worked for the City of Chicago, Murphy/Jahn Inc. and Solomon Cordwell Buenz & Associates Inc. before founding Sonoc Architects. His planning and design work, all of which involves the heightened aesthetic awareness of architecture, has received attention from a wide range of local and national media, including Crain's Chicago Business, Chicago Tribune, Metropolis Magazine and Architectural Record. Many of his plans and designs have also been included in Chicago area exhibitions and have captured honor awards from the Chicago Building Congress, Friends of the Parks and the Bright New City Committee.

Sonoc was one of ten U.S. recipients of the Champion International "National Imagination Award" in 1976 while he was studying at the Institute of Design at the Illinois Institute of Technology. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Design from IIT, with honors and subsequently earned a Master's Degree in Architecture at the University of Illinois in Chicago.
