Project: Streetscape Improvement Plan for Division Street - Chicago, Illinois

Profile:

The Streetscape Improvement Plan for Division Street, as it crosses through the Goose Island Industrial Campus, serves to identify a major access route from the Kennedy Expressway into Chicago’s lakefront "Gold Coast" neighborhood. The streetscape improvements continue from Elston Avenue to Halsted Street, spanning across two rivers to serve as a gateway into Chicago.

Sonoc Architects provided land and traffic planning analysis drawings, design concept illustrations and detailed drawings to identify the project scope and costs. Community meetings were convened with local businesses, City of Chicago Departments and local neighborhood organizations to identify projects, needs and goals. The streetscape elements include new sidewalks, parkways, curbs, gutters, roadway re-configurations, new bus shelters, information kiosks, seating, gateway markers and business identification signage.

Client: City of Chicago - The Department of Planning
Date: 1997
